Proof of life: author shows novel is 100% human, no A.I. used
With artificial intelligence shaking up the publishing world, author N.G. Swett gets proactive by pulling out the project box full of notes, old versions, research, and more for the new release 2026 illustrated novel ‘The Clerk and the Ink Drinker in the Outer Lands Mission.’ Whatever the novel’s strengths or flaws, they’re 100% human.

Getting Out Ahead of Any Controversy
As a new author with new release fiction in 2026, N.G. Swett is ready to prove that the writing, illustrations, and book design for the novel ‘The Clerk and the Ink Drinker in the Outer Lands Mission’ an illustrated novel by N.G. Swett is 100% authentically human and original. There are notes, old versions, files, images, videos, and more. Indeed, in the decade it took to finish, many people witnessed the many stages of the project.
Oh yes! Whatever strengths or flaws the novel has, they’re human.
The book is currently available to U.S. readers on this 4seasonshelf website in a full color illustrated pulp print paperback version only.
Unsigned copies are available worldwide through favorite booksellers.
Publishing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
In the age of A.I., popular online platforms such as Amazon are flooded with novels written completely or partly by artificial intelligence. Some authors have been accused of misrepresenting their work, and it sometimes dings an author’s reputation when readers find that machine intelligence played a role beyond spellcheck in the creation of a book.
Readers want to know what they're reading, a human-made story or a machine-made story. Many readers refuse to read artificial novels, and a growing movement is boycotting them and the platforms they’re on. Artificial novels join a growing wave of “slop” and algorithmic feeds flooding the attention of readers and big tech platform users around the world. To take care of our minds and nervous systems, readers have gone on digital detox diets and joined book clubs to reconnect with book lovers in person. Silent book clubs, in which readers gather together just to read quietly, are all the rage!
There are services now available to help authors certify that their projects are human-made, such as through the Authors Guild.

New release novel: cover reveal, unboxing and book signing
Nan is surprised to find she hasn't mentioned her novel much on the blog, though she's been working on it almost a decade. Ready or not, it's coming out soon, and we need to get caught up here. See the video playlist on YouTube featuring the cover reveal, book unboxing and book signing author rituals for “The Clerk and the Ink Drinker in the Outer Lands Mission” by N. G. Swett.
Three author rituals —DONE! — for “The Clerk and the Ink Drinker in the Outer Lands Mission” by N.G. Swett
It surprises me to find that I haven't said much here on this blog about my biggest, longest running project: my novel! I've been working quietly on it for a decade. It's coming out now, ready or not.
You know and I know what authors do when there’s a new book to launch. There are three main rituals:
the cover reveal
the unboxing
the book signing
I performed these virtually and posted the videos (see below).
Thank you to friends and family who helped with the cover design, it made a HUGE difference.
